It's loud. The motor sounds like it's planning something. But the water bowl part is elevated, which is less awkward on my neck than that flat thing you had before. The whole unit smells like plastic and whatever factory made it in China. Not offensive. Just... plastic.

Dad

Boldo

I already told you—plastic. But here's the thing: after it ran for a day, the plastic smell faded. Now it just smells like water, which is boring but honest. The pump itself has a faint metallic smell that's not great, but you can't really get your nose in there anyway. I've tried.

Dad

You've been weirdly quiet about this one. What's going on?

Boldo

I'm trying to figure out if I actually like it or if I just like that the water is cold and moving. The filter cartridge stinks when you replace it—chemical smell, very unnecessary. But the moving water part makes me drink more, which is apparently important to you. Is that a treat you're eating right now? I smell chicken.

Does it matter that the cat seems indifferent to it?

Boldo

The cat never drinks from it. The cat has her own stupid bowl that sits there untouched while she stares at us. This fountain is just for me, which is fine. Actually, it's better. Less cat interference. Although she did knock the plastic pieces off the top twice, so there's that.

Dad

Four. It works better than I expected. The water stays fresher because it keeps moving, and I actually drink more of it without getting bored. The noise is annoying at first but you stop hearing it. The cat refusing to use it is a bonus. Would be five if the replacement filters didn't smell like a science experiment, but I'm not being difficult.
